The lowdown on the joinery company behind Banda's Parkgate House Heritage Collection.

Lead by directors Del Bond, Nik James and Tim Hill, AJ&B have come a long way from their humble beginnings handcrafting furniture via a small garage in Blackheath. Describing themselves as a ‘projects company’, their Greenwich based studio today specialise in design, carpentry & joinery, metalwork and bespoke finishes.

Working mainly in the UK & Europe, AJ&B have expanded significantly over the last 5 years. Much of this work is produced and designed from their 3,500 sq ft. main workshop, which houses large scale tooling for a variety of their creative build productions. Featuring traditional joinery machines such as spindle moulders, dimension saws & planers, these work alongside the latest computer controlled CNC & metalwork departments, handling everything from one-off furniture production to large run batch manufacture.

One of their most recent commissions is Banda’s latest development, the Heritage Collection at Parkgate House. Over the last 6 months, our design team have worked closely with AJ&B to produce a completely bespoke joinery package, including dressing rooms & wardrobes, library, in-built bathroom furniture and all kitchen units.

In-House Design:

AJ&B’s in-house team of designers & project managers are situated on a mezzanine directly above the main workshop. Close proximity to the workshop floor provides the opportunity for a constant dialogue with the production team downstairs. This communication allows the designers and craftsmen the ability to combine seamlessly together, a vital benefit when the team are working to tight deadlines.

Extending to over 3,500 sq ft. AJ&B’s main warehouse contains the majority of the joinery and metalwork machinery, including:

a) CNC Cutting Facilities

b) Metal Fabrication

c) Spray Finishing

d) Corian Fabrication

At the beginning of 2014 AJ&B expanded into the workshop next door doubling overall production capacity to 7000 sq ft. giving their finishing department the space it needed. This new facility contains extracted spray bake booths, multiple finishing zones and a sampling/finishes library. With a varied portfolio of commissions, the team’s range includes spray coatings, french polishing and powder coating for upholstery items.
