Nobody, could have envisaged the impact this app has had on influencing the world of fashion and design. It has unearthed a new breed of trendsetters and launched the careers of many of today’s most successful visionaries. Here is our shortlist to the ones you should be following:

1. KATTY SCHIEBECK

WHO IS SHE?

Barcelona based Katty Schiebeck is one of the latest names to watch in the world of interior design. Since establishing her company 4 years ago, Katty represents a new breed of designer that uses social media platforms to spread her message.

WHAT’S HER STYLE?

Known for incorporating Scandinavian influences amongst contemporary minimalism, her discerningly functional spaces demonstrate an understanding of design that far surpasses her years.

ANYTHING ELSE?

Alongside her design work, Katty also runs a successful design blog: ‘Somewhere I would Like to Live’ with photographer Rubin Ortiz.  Created 3 years ago their blog focusses on interior design and architecture via an abstract and eclectic variety of inspirations. Purposely unconventional, the content is designed to be more inspirational than informative. Her wonderfully curated images and articles are  selection that you can truly lose yourself in for hours at a time.

2. BENJAMIN VANDIVER

WHO IS HE?

Having launched his company Benjamin Vandiver Interiors + Lifestyle in 2012, the decorator has swiftly established himself as one America’s best new talents. Featured by Architectural Digest in an article titled ‘Ones to Watch’, Tenessee based Benjamin’s first break came after working with Nathan Followhill (of Kings of Leon fame) to transform his Nashville retreat.

WHATS HIS STYLE?

Described by Harpers Bazaar as having a penchant ‘for soft colours, clean shapes and spare details, a minimalists dream.’ In truth it is more than this: Benjamin’s designs are subtly layered, experimenting with textures and scale, producing a finish that is both playful yet elegant.

ANYTHING ELSE?

A favourite amongst the celebrity posse, Benjamin has designed homes for Hayden Panattiere, Connie Britton and the musicians from the Kings of Leon.

3. KELLY WEARSTLER

WHO IS SHE?

As one of America’s most prolific interior designers, Kelly Wearstler needs no introduction. Since setting up her brand in 1995, Kelly’s success stems from her work in the hospitality industry. Notable projects include the Viceroy hotels in Santa Monica, Miami and Palm Springs and also The Avalon and Maison 140 Hotels in LA.

Not one to sit still for long, Kelly has gone on to design her own collections of jewellery, a fashion line, furniture, textiles and accessories, all to much critical acclaim.

WHATS HER STYLE?

Described as ‘Maximalism’, Kelly’s style is a marriage of modernism and old Hollywood glamour. Frequently sourcing from auction houses to find unique pieces, her bold use of contrast and colour have seen her credited by The New York Times as “bringing the florid and decorative back into interior design”.

ANYTHING ELSE?

  • Kelly has published six books including: Rhapsody, Hue and Modern Glamour and is featured in the LA Best Sellers List.
  • Her Fashion line is sold in Bergdorf Goodman, as well as at Neiman Marcus, Holt Renfrew and Net-a-Porter.
  • Kelly was a judge on Bravo’s reality show contest Top Design for the 2008 season.
