Behind the Brand: Sophie Ashby

From rocking her Casley-Hayford rucksack to sundowners at The Roebuck in Richmond Hill - Sophie Ashby grants Banda a glimpse of her world.

Home is…. Portobello Road, Notting Hill

Favourite room in your home is……. my living room, more specifically: one perfectly positioned spot on my very comfortable sofa!

Building you would most like to buy is….. The Marian Goodman Gallery (complete with her collection of Gerhard Richters and Anselm Kiefers) in Soho, London, designed by superstar architect David Adjaye.; 5-8 Lower John Street, London W1F 9DY

Favourite place I have last travelled to in the last year was….. Botswana, I just got back from a holiday with friends in the Tulli Block region which is an area of very wild, unspoilt bushland along the Limpopo River.

Building you would most like to be locked in overnight…… the V&A, I would very carefully try on all the McQueen dresses from the current Savage Beauty exhibition.

If I wasn’t an interior designer I would be…… a shop keeper; I have always wanted to have my own shop and sell all my favourite things, travelling the world to replenish stock regularly!

London’s best kept secret is…… it’s not much of a secret but I love going to the Roebuck on Richmond Hill at sunset with a sun downer and a packet of crisps. The Roebuck, 130 Richmond Hill, Richmond, Greater London TW10 6RN

Latest discovery is….. Rucksacks: my boyfriend gave me one of his army camo Casely-Hayford rucksacks and it has changed my life, I can now use both my arms when I am on the move, I feel I have been born again!

Favourite place for a drink is….. I really like The Cow in Notting Hill, it’s a great little local pub with amazing, hearty food.; 89 Westbourne Park Road, London W2 5QH

Last meal that truly inspired me was… My sister Rose is a chef at the new restaurant Spring in Somerset House by Skye Gyngell and I had an incredible meal there, I love Skye’s style of cooking.; Somerset House, Lancaster Place, Strand, London WC2R 1LA

Drink of choice is…. Hendricks Gin, tonic, ice and cucumber in a cut-glass crystal tumbler. Hold the straw.

Style icon is…. Carla Sozzani, the Italian Gallerist who started one of my favourite shops, Corso Como 10 in Milan; her taste is exquisite.; Corso Como, 10,  20154, Milano

Personal style signifiers are…. My favourite colour is green so it is usually in everything that I do. I like the architectural base of a room to start with black and white.

I love tribal and ethnic prints and have a thing for Aboriginal Art, which I get from one of my favourite galleries JGM in Battersea. And lots and lots of plants and flowers which I get from my wonderful florist Lizzie Powell who runs Early Hours London – she has a fantastic eye.; Apartment 27, 1 Battersea Square, London, SW11 3RZ; @earlyhoursltd

Last thing I bought and loved was…. I just bought a 70s crochet dress from a vintage shop called Found on the Golborne Road in Notting Hill, I think it is going to be my new wedding go-to outfit for the summer!

Object I couldn’t live without…… it’s not very poetic but probably my iPhone; running my own business means I need to be connected to everyone everywhere

Indulgence I could not forgo is……. Cheese. I absolutely love cheese, in particular Gruyere!
